Noticeboard

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We will now be offering a blend of face to face and telephone appointments. In order to minimise the risk to vulnerable patients we will offer patients presenting with COVID symptoms or respiratory problems specific appointment times. Anyone attending the practice should continue to wear a face covering.

ACCESSING TELEPHONE LINES

IN THE EVENT OF A MEDICAL EMERGENCY PLEASE CALL 999

We recently made some changes to our appointment system and hope that you  notice some improvements accessing the practice. However, we continue to experience an exponential increase in demand for appointments and are aware that our phone lines are still extremely busy. To minimise the volume of unnecessary contacts to the Practice we ask that you order your repeat prescription via our 24 hour prescription line on 0141 531 6218

We also request that you do not call the practice in advance to check if your prescription is ready. Your prescription will be available for collection 48 hours (2 working days) following your request. If you have informed us of your preferred pharmacy, we will ensure that your prescription is sent directly to the pharmacy for collection.

If you have any enquiries regarding your covid-19 vaccination please contact the helpline on 0800 030 8013.

Many thanks for your cooperation

Doctors in Training

The Cairns Practice has been involved in the training of young doctors since 1993. We usually have one or two GP specialty trainee doctors join us at the beginning of August each year. These doctors are fully registered and already have extensive medical experience from their earlier jobs in hospital. They are supervised by the practice at all times. From time to time we may ask your permission to record your consultation with one of the trainee doctors as part of their training. You can decline this if you so wish.

Dr Thomas Szoltysek our current GPST3 doctor will be with the practice until August 2022.

Dr Kenneth Dow our current GPST3 doctor will be with the practice until September 2022.

Junior Doctors

The practice also provides training for more junior doctors who have already worked in hospitals for 1 year. They are usually attached to the practice for four months. They are fully supervised by the practice and will often ask their supervising doctor to come in at the end of their consultation to discuss your case.

Dr Matthew Balmer our current Fy2 doctor will be with the practice until August 2022

Medical Students

From time to time medical students will be present for teaching in the practice. If there is a medical student expected at your appointment you will be informed of this when booking your appointment. You can decline to have the student present if you so wish.
